Our mission and values

Supporting English-speaking residents through grief in France

Our mission statement

The Bereavement Support Network exists to promote the well-being of English-speaking residents in France who are bereaved, and to enable them to understand their grief and cope with their loss.

It also aims to help the terminally ill and their carers.

Objectives

We strive to :

  • Offer individual support to those coping with grief – by phone or video
  • Signpost people to resources, information and additional help
  • Ensure volunteers receive best practices training and up-to-date information as well as support and supervision
  • Promote, locally and nationally, awareness of BSN’s services and the specific needs of English speakers dealing with loss in France
  • Support the terminally ill and their carers with the same assistance as the bereaved
  • Utilise the skills of specialists in other welfare organisations

“It is rewarding to feel clients start to realise grieving not only is normal but also heals the effects of their loss.”

Benoit – BSN Volunteer

“One of the most rewarding parts of being a volunteer is simply knowing that someone feels less alone because of the BSN’s support”

Sally – BSN Volunteer

“I enjoy the motivation, the pleasure of helping somebody find their own answers.”

Christine – BSN Volunteer
